TRANSFERENCE & COUNTERTRANSFERENCE II

The focus of this course will be understanding transference and countertransference from a contemporary perspective. We will address the problems and creative uses of transference and countertransference, integrating theory with clinical practice. The concepts of unconscious relational dynamics, mutual influence and authenticity will frame and anchor our thinking. Topics include working with positive and negative transferences, enactments, self-disclosure and erotic transferences. The course will draw on readings and candidate’s clinical material.
