It is an overview starting with the birth of psychoanalysis, and ending with Freud&#8217;s reformulation of the topographic model. The main topics covered will include the unconscious, instincts, screen memories, dreams and infantile sexuality. In addition, a number of his technique papers as well as Freud\u2019s paper on narcissism will be\u00a0examined.\u00a0The course will conclude reading one of Freud\u2019s most interesting cases.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reading for 1st class meeting:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Project for a Scientific Psychology (1950 [1895] (The Standard Edition of the Complete Psychological Works of Sigmund Freud,1():281-391)&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The reading is available on PEP-Web.
